Blocklist-Update.sh is a script that I wrote to manage blocklists from bluetack etc to be used in conjunction with Transmission torrent downloader in Linux/MacOS. The script can be taylored to work with Qbittorrent as well, but the placement of the blocklists means you'd have to redirect the blocklist to go somewhere locally manageable as Transmission uses its own blocklist directory in .config. I believe there are about 10 lists there now. It works well for my needs. It can be ran weekly using crontab in standard user profile. To download: blocklist-update.sh To download the others: Github
Debian, the operating system that really started it all, is now
turning 25. To kick off this feat, many are celebrating by explaining
things about the history of the project, such as this article from
Itsfoss:here. Debian is one of the oldest operating systems that is still
being developed. It is the forefather of many offshoots such as
Ubuntu which is closely tied to its stable branch with emphasis on
security updates and newer software packages. Ubuntu takes a modest,
yet modern approach with comparison to Debian’s more cautious
approach with chooses stability over anything else. It is also a
grandparent to Linux Mint, the second most popular distribution in
the Linux world for modern desktops and laptops. Linux Mint again
allows users a choice, but prefers stability and usability over
anything else, however, it does add features that are not in neither
in Ubuntu or Debian. Debian was around before the advent of AOL and
the internet, with that age, it has progressed and come a long way.
Many don’t prefer it for desktops as it is better for server and
workstation environments. The operating system’s name derives from
the developer and his then girlfriend who got married, had kids, and
then were divorced circa 2008. Debian is sturdy and reminds me often
of Arch Linux. Arch sports the more bleeding edge, but it is
independent like Debian and yet without Debian, it would have
probably never came about. All Linux distributions are distantly
related to BSDs in that much of the inner workings and code are taken
from Unix, however, Debian is what sets them apart. Still Debian has
an image based on BSD.Here’s to another 25 years of Debian. With
Debian, what you see is what you get. With everyone coming after
choosing their own way, Debian users all use the same software. While
limited in the Repository department, Debian is locked way down in
comparison with others. Debian uses three separate branches that
include; Stable, Testing and Unstable respectively.
